Event Description:

Did you know Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous architectural designs were inspired by the work of Friedrich Froebel, the creator of kindergarten? Join a guest speaker and students and staff from The Orchard School as they explore and demonstrate the way simple shapes can be the building blocks for imagination and design.

Frank Lloyd Wright frequently attributed playing with Froebel’s small wooden blocks and colored strips of paper to the development of his design aesthetic. A comparison of Frank Lloyd Wright’s geometric architecture and Froebel's exercises confirms a striking similarity. Participants will play with a variety of Froebel's materials as they discover how minimal instruction can result in beautiful, diverse designs.

Presented by Indiana Landmarks, Samara - John E. Christian House, and The Orchard School. Questions? Call 800-450-4534 or email sstanis@indianalandmarks.org.
