Event Description:
What do America’s Deep South and the Jews of Eastern Europe have in common? Each culture gave birth to an imaginitive musical tradition that sustained them admist repression and adversity: jazz and klezmer.
The Icarus Ensemble and 65th Street Klezmorim will share the stage and blend their improvisatory styles in a singularly playful performance. Audience members will participate by suggesting themes for improvisation and adding their own sounds. Bring a donation or band instrument in good repair to help Indianapolis Public School music students.
Presented by Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, Indianapolis Public Schools Music Department, and The Icarus Ensemble. Questions? Call 317-255-6647
