Event Description:

Sometimes crayons and markers are better tools for expressing difficult emotions. Discover the rich history, methods, and benefits of art and play therapy for children. After a discussion with experts in the field, explore an exhibit to learn more, enjoy refreshments, and ask the experts your own questions.

Panelists include Judith Beakle, MD, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at IU School of Medicine and Larue D. Carter Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis; Kelly Blankenship, DO, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Midtown Child and Adolescent Service; Heidi Fledderjohn, MA, BC-DMT, Dance Movement Therapist; Jill Hunsberger, LCSW, IMH-E (III), Infant Mental Health Specialist clinical Supervisor at Midtown Child and Adolescent Services; Michelle Itczak, MA, ATR-BC, LMHC, Art Therapist; and Juliet L. King, Director of the Graduate Art Therapy program at Herron School of Art & Design.
