Event Description:

Join The Steele Project for a unique evening of theater, music and dance. Premiering at this year’s Spirit and Place Festival, Gender Bender is an original theatrical work based on the true stories of Indiana residents. Monologues will be paired with beautiful music from the standard opera and musical theater repertoire. Gender Bender explores the struggles we face as we navigate the role society has chosen for us versus who WE feel we are and how we express that.

Audience members are invited to cross-dress (optional). Make a donation to the Damien Center to choose a feather boa or fedora to wear during the night.

Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with a pre-show lecture on gender identity at 6:15 p.m. given by the Rev. Dr. Gretchen Woods of All Souls. Art from local artists, photography and booths will be available to browse before and after the show. A catered reception with wine will follow the performance and the audience will have a chance to meet the actors.
