Shadow puppets and Shakespeare? See A Midsummer Night’s Dream as you’ve never seen it before … in the Balinese theater tradition, which brings music, movement, and spoken word together. Steeped in both theater traditions, this play is sure to be unpredictable and unforgettable.

In the Balinese tradition, performers improvise within a highly structured form - an interplay between musical performance, movement, and speaking. The production of Bali Dream will play within the structures of Shakespeare's verse and narrative, the confines of shadow puppet conventions, mask characterization, stylized movement, a dream world, and the concrete here and now. Expect an intimate and raucous production.

Presented by Butler University, Dept. of Theatre and Indianapoils Museum of Art. Questions? Call 317-940-9247 or email theatrereservations@butler.edu.
