Event Description:
Discover the paintings of a wandering artist, whose schizophrenia diagnosis landed him in Indiana’s Central State Hospital for the Insane in 1938. While institutionalized, John Zwara painted the works on display as a form of therapy. Hear from a curator and art therapist to learn more about Zwara’s life and work, the benefits of art therapy, and the history of mental health in Indianapolis.
