Anne L. Bower

Anne  L.  Bower Anne L. Bower is a food historian and the author of Recipes for Reading: Community Cookbooks, Stories and Histories. Dr. Bower served for many years on the faculty of Ohio State University and, among other things, was a pioneer in the area of using cookbooks for historical inquiry. She has edited and contributed to numerous books about food culture and history, including African American Foodways: Explorations of History and Culture, published in 2007 and Reel Food: Essays on Food and Film, published in 2004. She is retired now and lives in Vermont, where she spends her time teaching Tai Chi and cultivating her organic garden.
