Judy Hostetler

Judy Hostetler is a lifelong do-it-yourselfer whose professional life has spanned roles as a nurse, medical writer, chemist, and maker of prosthetics for leprosy patients in Tanzania. A self-described “Queen of Odd Jobs,” she has completed countless projects around her Irvington home and garden, including a dry sauna, a hypertufa fountain, and raised garden beds crafted from salvaged brick and Indiana limestone. She is an expert in the art of repurposing, and considers her homesteading projects an expression of both creativity and environmentalism. She brings an artist’s eye to each undertaking, and the solar cooker she made in the summer of 2009 marries form to function in a beautifully efficient and eye-catching package.
