David Clendening

David Clendening, superintendent of Franklin Community Schools, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University, Master of Science from Butler, and Education Specialist and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from Indiana State University. Prior to being named Franklin Community Schools Superintendent, Dr. Clendening’s served the educational community as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and Executive Director of Elementary Education and Public Relations.  He has also served as Chairperson for the North Central Association and a facilitator in the Northwest Evaluation Association. He was honored as Administrator of the Year in both 1996 and 2006.  Dr. Clendening has also been involved with Leadership Goshen, the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army and Ivy Tech, volunteered in the Junior Football League and as a youth basketball coach, and is a member of Kiwanis.

David is married to Angie Clendening and they have four sons:  Ethan, Jeffrey, Ryan and Tate.  Their busy family is involved in many activities, ranging from church to music and athletic events.  One of David’s passions is community involvement and he displays this in his enthusiastic commitment to and involvement in the Get Healthy Franklin! initiative.
