Ginny Roberts

Since 2004, Ginny Roberts has helped Keep Indianapolis Beautiful to engage youth from schools all over Indianapolis to learn about their environment. Her position is a job share between Keep Indianapolis Beautiful and Purdue University-Marion County Extension, where she has worked since 1997 as the Urban Gardens Program Coordinator.

Ginny served as the Director of Educational Initiatives at Keep Indianapolis Beautiful from 2004 through 2010, overseeing the Project Green Schools program. In that role, Ginny engaged students by creating outdoor “classrooms” on school grounds. Project Green Schools (recently re-branded as KIB Clubs) is a successful, standards-based, hands-on environmental education program that teaches Marion County youth to learn about their environment.

Beginning in 2011, Ginny has taken on a new position with KIB, managing our Urban Gardens program. Ginny is the go-to person in Indianapolis for schools that want to put in a garden, or for someone that wants to start a community garden but isn't sure where to begin. Her extensive experience with community gardens, in addition to her enthusiasm for working with youth, makes her a true asset to our organization, and our city.
