Kathryn Jones

Dr. Kathryn Jones is professor and chair of IU School of Medicine Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.  She holds a BS degree and certificate in physical therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a doctorate in neuroanatomy from the University of Illinois. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship at The Rockefeller University in the Laboratories of Neurobiology and Behavior, and Neuroendocrinology.

Dr. Jones’ research interests include the therapeutic use of steroid hormones in neuronal regeneration, neural-immune interactions in nerve injury and repair, combinatorial treatment approaches in spinal cord injury, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a fatal motoneuron disease. Currently, she is working with clinical colleagues in otolaryngology to translate the use of steroid hormones in different types of peripheral nerve injury.
