Having hopped coasts most of his life, Michael finds himself and his family happily residing and making their home in Indianapolis. Working as Director of Special Projects and Civic Investment for the Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County, Michael supports arts, ecology and urban agriculture initiatives for Marion County Health Department and Wishard Health Services. Michael studied film and video theory as an undergrad at Bucknell University where he also began experimenting with music and installation art, later exhibiting alongside such prominent artists as Jessica Stockholder and Robert Rauschenberg.

After college, Michael interned at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas, and then worked as a film archivist at the Donnell Media Center of the New York Public Library. Michael has lectured on the subject of music and art at several universities including Bucknell University, Butler University, University of Redlands, IUPUI, Calvin College and the University of California San Diego. He finished his graduate work in library and information science at San Jose State University.

Since 2002, Michael has also worked for Asthmatic Kitty Records (Sufjan Stevens, My Brightest Diamond, Julianna Barwick, Fol Chen, etc.) doing A&R, project management and label development. In 2009 he started creative consulting firm The Kinetic Project, clients have included the Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Marfa Film Festival, The Southern Theater, and others. Michael currently serves on the boards of Spirit and Place Festival, IndyHub, Butler University's Center for Urban Ecology, and serves as board president for the Indianapolis Museum of Art's Contemporary Arts Society. He also is a member of Indianapolis' CEO's for Cities and the programming advisory committee for Indiana Humanities.
