David  Sklar

David Sklar has been Director of Government Affairs with the Indianapolis JCRC since 2007.  A lifelong resident of Greater Indianapolis and Pike High School alumni, David graduated from Ball State University in 2006 with a B.S. in Political Science and in 2013 with a Masters in Public Affairs from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA).   

Before joining the JCRC David began his work in Jewish communal service at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Indianapolis working as a summer camp counselor and program director.

During his time lobbying at the Indiana General Assembly, David has become a leading advocate on various public policy issues including human service funding, poverty, economic self-sufficiency and immigration.  He also continues to take on a greater role in the JCRC’s other priority activities including interfaith and intergroup outreach, Israel advocacy and combatting anti-Semitism.

David completed a three year term as President of the Indiana Coalition for Human Services and serves as an officer or board member of a number of other organizations including the Indianapolis Immigrant Welcome Center, the Indiana Institute for Working Families and Congregation Beth El Zedeck.  He was also selected for and recently began his yearlong participation in Class XL of the Stanley K. Lacey Executive Leadership Series.

David lives in Greenwood with his wife Sarah and children Max, 5 and Sydney, 2.
