Dr. Jon Kay

Dr. Kay is professor of practice in Indiana University’s Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology. He directs Traditional Arts Indiana, the official statewide folk-arts program, which was recognized with a 2013 Governor’s Arts Award for its work in documenting and promoting Indiana’s traditional arts. He serves as the curator of folklife and cultural heritage at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures, where he conducts research, presents public programs, and produces exhibitions. He is the author of the book Folk Art and Aging: Life-Story Objects and their Makers (2016).
