Christine Van Marter

Ms. Christine Van Marter is a multi-media expert communicator who has personal experience advocating for others. Ms. Van Marter served as a broadcast journalist for the Indianapolis-market’s NBC and ABC affiliates, then took a break from her television career in the late 1990’s to establish a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and education about a little known medical condition. She worked at Eli Lilly and Company for over 10 years, serving as Director of R&D Communications overseeing internal and external communications in support of the company's Chief Scientific Officer, and subsequently founded two communication ventures that she currently oversees as CEO and Co-Owner. Additionally, she is an author, broadcaster, comedienne and published poet.  Ms. Van Marter graduated Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key National Honor Society from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications. She will provide an overview of different communication styles for interpersonal relationships and describe how these can play out in volunteer activities.
