Frederica Mathewes-Green will discuss how Eastern Orthodoxy supports joyous and generous living in a pop culture that is filled with distractions and anxieties about having “enough” for abundant living. Mathewes-Green is a wide-ranging author of Eastern Orthodoxy, and her work has appeared in The Washington Post, Christianity Today, Sojourners, The Wall Street Journal, and more. Following her presentation, a panel will discuss how Orthodoxy’s spiritual practices can help us cope with modern-day pressures. Panelists include Dr. Tércio Junker, worship and arts professor at Christian Theological Seminary and a Brazilian Methodist; Fr. Joseph Gibson, leader of the Orthodox priests council in central Indiana; and Susan Neville, Butler University literature professor and author. Admission is free. Presented by Christian Theological Seminary and Orthodox Churches of Central Indiana.
