Ellen K. Annala

In January 1998, Ellen K. Annala was selected as the first female ever to lead the United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI). She had headed United Way’s planning, evaluation, and community service arm for the five years prior to her appointment as president and chief executive officer. Annala’s leadership at United Way produced a fundamental change in the organization’s relationship with funded programs in order to better measure progress toward community goals and changes in the lives of children, families and neighborhoods served by these programs.
