Carol Cosby

Carol Q. Cosby retired in 2003 as Director for Social Action Networks for Disciples Home Missions, Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). For more than 15 years she worked with the Office of Disciples Women, providing some staff services for four Quadrennial Assemblies for Women, and resourcing the women's network in social action.  She represented the Disciples on ecumenical bodies such as the Center for Prevention of Sexual and Domestic Violence, Justice for Women Working Group of the National Council of Churches, Community Education and Fund Raising for Church World Service, etc.  She led retreats, workshops, and training events throughout the United States and Canada, with special duties in Central America, China, and Scotland.

Her portfolio, at the same time, included being the National Resource Coordinator for the ecumenical program of Mother-to-Mother Ministry and being staff liaison for the Disciples Peace Fellowship as well as providing training in regions about clergy sexual ethics.  She served as General Ministry Partner for the region of Arizona for a time also.

A laywoman, with a background in education, having taught in high school and colleges, Carol moved to Indiana from Ohio in 1988.  She now does volunteer work both in the wider church and community as well as free lance writing.  She volunteers as a tutor in an elementary school through the Oasis program, volunteers at two food pantries, and ushers primarily at the Warren Performing Arts Center. She has two married daughters each with adopted children, two from Guatemala, one from India, ages five, five, and two!
