James Davita

James received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1972 and has been the recipient of many awards and honors throughout a distinguished career in academia, including the Marian College Franciscan Values Award, the Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award, the Fadely History Award for “outstanding effort to advance the knowledge of local history.” He was also awarded an Indiana Religious History Association certificate of highest achievement for his publications Workers Church (1997) and for Splendor of the South Side (2001) Some of his books or works in progress include: Serving the Immigrant: the Sesquicentennial History of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish in Indianapolis 1858-2008 (in process) and Indianapolis Italians, which was published in 2006
